      Anne Cook: Thank you

Coach Lisa congratulates Anne after finishing the 10k.

I am forever indebted to Coach Lisa, the EXCEL team of Steph and Dena, Miranda, and the whole Endurance Evolution team.

This past weekend I accomplished a goal. A goal that, last year, I never thought I could accomplish. I ran a 10k.

The whole experience was incredible. The support I received from Coach Lisa, Stephanie, Dena, Miranda and all of my teammates was overwhelming. To have all of these incredibly accomplished runners cheering at the top of their lungs for me was a beautiful moment. It really goes to show you that running is way more of a team sport than we realize.

I truly could not have done it without all of my support team. I can't even put into words the love I feel for each one of them. They helped me, pushed me, cheered for me, and most importantly, believed in me when even I didn't. They are wonderful people, but also incredibly talented at what they do. I would recommend their services to everyone and anyone who will listen. They are truly the best in the business - I mean that.

I also want to thank my parents. Throughout the entire process they were full of tough love, compassion and helpful hints - and they never once doubted (at least out-loud) if I could do it. To have this have been a family event made it that much better.

And thank you to 7&4. Without the station, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing support team. The lessons learned through them will be carried with me on every training run from here on out. And a huge thank you to everyone who read my blogs, left their comments of support, and cheered me on during the race. Doing this whole experiment in the public eye is both terrifying and exhilarating. Knowing that people would read these blogs and check in on my progress was what kept me running on days when I wanted to stop, so thank you for that.

On to the next one! I'll be running the Big 10k in Chicago this July. I'm excited to continue my training and cut even more time off of my target for the next one.

Thank you all, again, for making this such a memorable and life-changing experience. It will be a memory I carry with me the rest of my life.
