Bellaire basketball tournament supports youth girls hoops program

The tournament will get started late Friday afternoon at Bellaire High School and conclude with a champion being crowed on Sunday.

ANTRIM COUNTY -- The Bellaire Invitational Tournament will take to the floor at Bellaire High School with some pretty big names and a visit to any of this weekend's games will help benefit a growing youth program.

The tournament will get started on Friday afternoon at 4:30 and run all day Saturday and Sunday before crowning a champion on Sunday night. A Slam Dunk Contest and Three Point Shootout will also be held Saturday night.

Among the field of former men's college and pro players will be former Michigan and Purdue guard Spike Albrecht, former NBA 3-Point Shootout champ Voshon Leonard as well as former local stars from the Huffman and Sheldon families.

Funds raised at the tournament will go towards the Northern Pride Sports Academy. The organization is helping bring up youth girls basketball players from late elementary school up through high school to help grow their game in the spring and summer months.
