The Lake Erie Crushers scored the final eight runs of the ballgame to earn a 9-1 victory over the Traverse City Beach Bums on Friday night at Wuerfel Park.
Traverse City managed just three hits on the night, including the solo homer from Carlos Berroa, who sent one out to right against Lake Erie starter Andy Roberts. That was the only miscue for Roberts (1-0) who picked up his first pro win by allowing a run on a hit in five innings.
Rusty Shellhorn (4-4) started well for Traverse City, but ended up taking the loss. He allowed six runs on eight hits in five innings despite striking out five.
