Big Rapids, Mich. - Standout center Zach Hankins (Charlevoix) of the Ferris State University men's basketball squad has become the first-ever sophomore to receive NCAA Division II All-America recognition in program history as he was named today to the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-America squad.

Hankins led the Bulldogs to one of the most historic seasons in school history, including an appearance in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Semifinals for the second consecutive year. He previously was chosen to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region squad and tabbed as the regional player of the year.

The 6-10 Hankins was the only sophomore named to the D2CCA All-America squad in the nation and among five honorees named to the All-America Second Team. A total of five players each were named to the first, second and third-team All-America squads with six others garnering honorable mention laurels. He was the only player from a GLIAC member school selected on any of the All-America squads.
