The Frontier Greys posted three runs in the top of the first inning and held off some late threats to beat the Traverse City Beach Bums 6-1 on Wednesday night at Wuerfel Park.
The first four batters of the game reached for the Greys netting them a run on an error and then another on an RBI single from Chris Ellison.
Traverse City bounced back in the bottom half of the inning with a run of its own. Rob Benedict was hit by a pitch, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on an infield single by Yazy Arbelo to cut the deficit to 3-1.
That would be the lone run of the game for the Beach Bums, though, as Frontier starter Mark Belcastro kept TC in check. Belcastro (2-1) had his best start of the year, lasting seven innings while allowing an unearned run on five hits.
