The Detroit Red Wings have selected Dylan Larkin with the No. 15 pick in the NHL draft, hoping he develops enough to play for his home state team.
Detroit drafted the center from Waterford, Michigan, on Friday night.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Larkin has spent the last two years with the U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He ranked second on the team last season with 31 goals and had 56 points in 60 games. He had four points in six games during the 2014 world championships for players 18 years old and younger.
Larkin has committed to attending the University of Michigan next season.
