The head coach for the Traverse City Wolves semi-pro football team confirmed that the team has decided cancel play for the rest of the season due to disciplinary issues. Player mentality in regards to practice participation was one of the big setbacks that led to the end of the year.
Coach Art McGuff had this to say in an email to 7&4 Sports: "We know that we potentially damaged our reputation in the leagues around Michigan as well in our own community, but we felt so strongly that what was going on was ethically and morally wrong, we pulled the plug for the season."
Coach McGuff added that the team plans to reorganize and change their name in the offseason. They also have plans to attend the Great Lakes Football League meetings in the winter to address a detailed plan to meet the standards they want to enforce in order to get back on the field next summer.
