Traverse City rallies past Washington 3-2

Rob Benedict drove home the game-tying and go-ahead runs and D.J. Johnson pitched a perfect ninth to give the Traverse City Beach Bums a slim 3-2 win over the Washington Wild Things on Wednesday night at Consol Energy Park.

With the game tied at two entering the ninth inning, Jeff DeBlieux led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Josh Miller. Greg Harisis then reached on an infield single to put runners on the corners. Benedict followed with a slow chopper up the middle that the Wild Things tried to turn a double play on, but Benedict beat the throw, allowing DeBlieux to score the eventual game-winning run.

Johnson came in to retire the side on just 11 pitches for his tenth save of the year.
