Tripp fires complete game in loss to Joliet
Tanner Tripp fired an eight-inning complete game, but the Joliet Slammers scored all the runs they would need early in a 6-1 victory over the Traverse City Beach Bums on Monday night at Silver Cross field.
Tripp (1-4) became the second Beach Bum to complete eight innings this season and the first to author a complete game. The righthander allowed all six runs on 10 hits while getting stronger as his outing went on. Tripp retired 14 of the final 16 batters he faced and struck out the side in the eighth inning to finish out the 98-pitch effort. He finished with five K's on the night.
Traverse City scored the first run of the game in the top of the second on back-to-back doubles from Jovan Rosa and Sean Gusrang. That would be the only run TC would score against Joliet starter Travis Bradshaw, who picked up his first win of the year by allowing a run on five hits in seven innings.
