Wings happy to be back on the ice
The Red Wings opened training camp Thursday at Centre ICE Arena.
Detroit signed free agents Daniel Alfredsson and Stephen Weiss and extended Pavel Datsyuk's deal in the offseason, giving the franchise a better chance to have success as it shifts to the Eastern Conference this season. The Wings also re-signed veteran forward Danny Cleary on Thursday, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal for $1.75 million.
With established veteran stars like Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg already in the fold, the Red Wings aim to improve their offense from a year ago, when they struggled to score.
