Central Lake turns questionable season into state finals appearance
ANTRIM COUNTY -- When the Central Lake football program decided to switch from the 11-player division to the 8-player division in the off-season it didn't come without some concern.
Some in the community where wondering how necessary the switch was needed despite the growing popularity across the state of Michigan.
What ended as a 2-7 season a year ago has transformed into 12-0 record, a conference and regional championship and the first state finals berth in program history.
Next up for Central Lake will be the Deckerville Eagles. The two will kickoff for the 8-player Division 1 state championship on Saturday at 11am at the Superior Dome in Marquette.
