Glads win in extras to punch ticket to D3 baseball state finals

Traverse City St. Francis entered the Division 3 baseball state semifinals as the top ranked team in the bracket and with a five game scoreless streak in the post season.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- Traverse City St. Francis entered the Division 3 baseball state semifinals as the top ranked team in the bracket and with a five game scoreless streak in the post season.

They lost the scoreless streak in the bottom of the first but they probably aren't too upset about that after pulling off the 3-2 win in the 8th inning on Friday against Schoolcraft.

Glads junior Cooper Peterson hit a sac fly in the top of the eighth to score senior Gabe Callery and give St. Francis the 3-2 lead. From there the defense closed out the game in the bottom half of the inning.

This marks the Glads first appearance in the state championship game since 1990. They will play on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
