Legacies and legends help sort out Week 7 football storylines

Johannesburg-Lewiston goes on the road Friday night to try and take down rival Gaylord St. Mary in the NMFL Legacy conference.

Gaylord St. Mary and Johannesburg-Lewiston enter the seventh week of the high school football season tied at 2-0 in the Northern Michigan Football League Legacy division. The winner of their Friday night showdown will control the future of the conference with both still playing fellow 2-0 Harbor Springs in the final few weeks.

Elk Rapids (5-1) has its eyes on a postseason berth that they haven't received since 2014. To do so they'll have to get back the Grayling Vikings (4-2) on the road as both teams look to pick up wins in time for the playoffs.

Traverse City St. Francis (6-0) continues to roll through the regular season but could Cheboygan (3-3) pull a potential upset? The Chiefs have looked very impressive in NMFL Legends division play so far and would love nothing more than to walk away with a victory at Thirlby Field on Friday.

We tackle these three big games in our latest Jimmy Johns Sports Corner with Traverse City Record Eagle sports writer Brendan Quealy.
