TC West ties game in final seconds, beats Bay Reps in OT 5-4

The Titans win in overtime gives them a ticket to Saturday's regional final where they will play Rockford.

TRAVERSE CITY -- Hard to beat a playoff hockey game between Traverse City West and the Bay Area Reps. They usually meet in the regular season every year but something about the postseason atmosphere and the crowds really brings the match-up to historic heights.

So was the case on Thursday night when the Reps hosted West in a Division 1 pre-regional final at Centre Ice Arena. The Reps took a one goal lead multiple times throughout the contest before West would tie it back up every time.

Going into the final seconds of the game West was able to tie it up a fourth time when Sam Tirrell sent one to the back of the net. West then won in overtime off a breakaway goal by Mark Alekseykov to give the Titans a 5-4 win. Next up for them will be a regional final against Rockford on Saturday on the campus of Ferris State University in Big Rapids.
