Former Ferris State player named to USA Olympic hockey team
Big Rapids, Mich. - Former Ferris State University men's ice hockey captain, standout defenseman and Michigan native Chad Billins (Marysville) will represent the United States at the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics as he was named this week to the US Olympic Team that will compete in PyeongChang, South Korea.
The 5-8 Billins, who is currently playing overseas in Sweden, was on the United States' final roster that was unveiled during the second intermission of the NHL Winter Classic at Citi Field in New York City and televised live on NBC. He's one of 15 members of the squad chosen to compete for the USA with past NHL experience and also among 15 presently playing professionally in Europe.
The former Ferris State standout served as a captain during his senior campaign on FSU's historic 2011-12 squad that reached the national championship game in the school's first-ever NCAA Frozen Four appearance.
Overall, Billins will be the fifth former Ferris State Hockey player to compete in the Olympic games.
