GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The Addiction Treatment Services is an organization that helps people overcome addiction, but they couldn't do it without some help from the community.
The Traverse City based organization helps individuals and their families deal with a variety of addictions.
From residential services to intensive outpatient treatment, ATS said they have the goal of empowering addicts to live healthy, rewarding and joyful lives.
To do that, they said informing the community is key.
"We really want to be able to address that here locally," said Katie Kerr with the Addiction Treatment Services. "We really want to give people the information they're hungry for and we want to give them the opportunities to get involved and make a difference in their own community."
Addiction Treatment Services is hosting an upcoming conference titled "Rethinking Addiction."
It is a day long learning event at the Dennos Museum on Thursday, September 13.
