Gum Health

Did you know that 50% of the population over 30 has gum disease, and that percentage increases as we age?

The reason this is so upsetting is gum disease and heart diseases have been shown to be related. One theory suspects inflammation to be the culprit and another belief is that bacteria from plaque is released into the bloodstream. When untreated, gum disease advances to periodontal disease; this cause gums to recede, promotes infection, loose teeth and even bone loss.

Regular brushing, flossing and dental visits can help prevent gum disease. However only 13% of us floss and most of us don’t see the dentist often enough.
