TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU)-- In attendance at this year's National Cherry Festival's Cherry Royale Parade was Michigan's Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley.

He was in Traverse City asking for people's signatures for his limited part-time legislature.

The proposal is called the "Clean My Government" initiative which hopes to cut legislature's pay and time in half.

"We have a group of volunteers that are out getting signatures for the part-time legislature initiative," said Lt. Governor Calley. "This would make Michigan more like 41 other states that already do it this way. What it does is that it requires our lawmaking process and those who run it get in get the important work done and go back home. "

Calley says he will make his way around Michigan throughout the next several months to ask for more signatures.
