Events in Northern Michigan for the weekend of December 8th

NORTHERN MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) -- If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, here’s some events across northern Michigan that you and your friends or family can take part in.

There's a Holiday Open House in Petoskey. You can join local merchants downtown from 6 to 9 p.m. for a night of holiday fun. Watch Santa fly into town and light the giant Christmas tree in Pennsylvania park, afterwards continue your Christmas shopping at Petoskey's local shops.

For all the dog lovers out there, Falling Waters Lodge in Leland is hosting, Dogs at the Dam on Friday, December 7th at 3 p.m. as well as Sunday December 9th at 11 a.m. Community members are invited to spend the weekend at the lodge with their furry friend and take advantage of the dog trainer on hand as well as dog-friendly activities.

Step back in time and participate in Manistee's Sleigh-bell Parade and Old Christmas Weekend. From Thursday through Sunday join locals dressed in Victorian attire and enjoy festivities such as the festival of trees, the nutcracker ballet, the jingle bell jog and of course the famous Victorian sleigh-bell parade where a team of horses will drag a thirty foot Christmas tree upright down the street.

The village at Grand Traverse Commons will be hosting its Christmas in the village this weekend. Enjoy events like a hot chocolate competition, carriage rides, the tree lighting and even a visit from Santa, festivities begin Friday night at 6 p.m.

For a fun night out check out Interlochen Center for the Arts performance of Swan Lake. The ballet has various showtimes throughout the weekend and promises an entertaining night full of music, emotion and dancing. Tickets are $29 for adults, $26 for seniors and $11 for youth.
