NORTHERN MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) -- Looking for something to do this weekend? There are plenty of events happening around northern Michigan.
First up, witness history with the premier of how Interlochen came to be with a documentary on the history of Interlochen.
On Friday, January 11th watch as Interlochen resident Dave Pennington guides viewers through the history of the people who have shaped the area into what it is today.
The premiere will take place at Interlochen Public Library at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, January 12th head down to the Park Place Hotel for Traverse City's annual Downtown Chili Cook-off from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For $10 you can get a sampler of 8 chili from local restaurants and vote for your favorite, proceeds go towards community events.
Next up, head over to Empire for their 4th annual snowmobile drag race in honor of Roy Taghon.
The all day event is taking place on Saturday January 12th, you can watch fast racing sleds, enjoy a heated beer tent and live music.
The entry fee is $10 and registration opens at 8 a.m., races start at 10:30 a.m.
For some more outdoor fun, make your way to the Grass River Natural Area in Bellaire for their Grass River Shiver 5k and 10k snowshoe race to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
People are encouraged to strap on their snowshoes and run through the snow covered natural area starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 12th.
The event is to celebrate the anniversary and support public programs. Prizes will be awarded to overall male and female winners.

Finally, for the Disney Princess lovers, Once Upon a Child in Traverse City is hosting a Princess Party on Saturday, January 12th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The event is free and encourages kids to dress in their prince and princess costumes as well.
