Northern Michigan events for the weekend of December 1

NORTHERN MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) -- If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, here’s some events across northern Michigan that you and your friends or family can take part in.

First up, head out to Harbor Springs for the 'Home for the Holidays Merchant’s Open House'. We hear Santa will be in town as well as the Petoskey Steel Drum Band while stores hold holiday specials.

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 1.

Next up is the 18th Annual Holiday Home Tour in Cadillac. Community homes will be open displaying Christmas decorations with fresh floral arrangements that will also be for sale.

This event is the only fundraiser of the year for the Cadillac Garden Club, which helps raise money for the public sound garden and local gardening conservation efforts.

Tickets are $20 day of the event and goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

If you’re further north, Santa is coming to Gaylord for a parade downtown.

Families can enjoy sleigh rides, pictures with Santa, holiday princesses, carolers and much more.

The event is Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

For some fun outdoors head over to Bellaire for a night of stargazing.

The Grass River Natural Area is inviting community members on a nighttime stroll to learn about different constellations lighting up our sky.

If the weather isn’t clear there will be an interactive indoor stellarium for participants to enjoy.

The event will take place on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $5.

Next up, you can hang out downtown while warming up with the downtown Cocoa Crawl in Traverse City.

Shop at local stores while they serve you their personalized hot cocoa and at the end you vote for your favorite.

The event is free and goes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

And last but not least, Suttons Bay will be hosting its Holiday Festival downtown on both Saturday and Sunday

Enjoy activities like Christmas crafts, caroling, movies and even a visit from Santa.
