TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- In Your Health Matters this month we introduce you to 18-month-old Addison and her foster mom, Erin Bellinger. Addison was born premature, weighing just 2 pounds. She spent her first 77-days of life in Munson Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Once released from the hospital, Addison needed regular doctors appointments ranging from an optometrist to physical therapy to closely monitor her development. The Bellinger's were able to meet with all the needed specialists at one time, under one roof at the Developmental Assessment Clinic (DAC).
The DAC closely monitors the development of premature infants after the are released from the NICU.
Munson Medical Center has the only NICU in northern Michigan, and has outgrown it's limited space. Munson Healthcare will be expanding it's Labor and Delivery and NICU facilities as part of it's largest expansion in history. The project is currently in the fundraising stages, to learn more on the project click here.
