Holiday events taking over towns

There are many holiday events taking place this weekend. Check them all out!

Every Thursday on 7&4 News Today, Bob Downes from the Northern Express will fill you in on events and activities happening around the northern Michigan area. This week he features a variety of holiday events.

Menâ??s Night is arguably one of the biggest shopping nights of the year for downtown Traverse City, as hundredsâ??even thousands!â??of men and women do some last minute holiday shopping.

If caroling isnâ??t your thing, you may want to check out the â??Unsilent Night.â?? The event will take place Friday night at the Traverse City Commons. People gather around the world for this event in its 20th You can download the music to join in with the eerie, wind chime-like music. Left Foot Charlieâ??s is sponsoring the event. The music will start at 6:30.

You can mark the changing of the seasons with the Blissfest Winter Solstice celebration Saturday night. The community potluck kicks off at 5:30 at the Emmet County Fairgrounds. Folk music artists will take the stage starting at 7. Tickets for non-members cost $25 at the door.

Another holiday concert takes place Sunday night in Leland at the Old Art Building. E Minor, Blake Elliott, Steven Leaf, The Accidentals, Miriam Pico, Mary Sue Wilkinson, and Sierra Creamer will be performing holiday songs. Tickets for the concert are $12. The show starts at 7.

Get a head start to New Yearâ??s Resolutions with the Jingle Bell Run Sunday. The 5K run/walk takes place at the Park Place Dome in Traverse City. Participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to donate to Goodwill. Day-of registration costs $15.
