LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A young bear was saved from underneath a vehicle Tuesday morning.

Around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Leelanau County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a crash with a bear on South Center Highway near Eckerle Road.

Deputies said a small black bear was stuck under a woman's pickup truck.

The woman told deputies she tried to stop when the bear ran into the road but the bear went under the vehicle.

A deputy slowly moved the truck away from the bear and an animal control officer got the bear to go back into the woods.

Deputies said the bear appears to be doing well and the vehicle wasn't damaged.
