Benzie County man arrested on assault and home invasion charges

CLARE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A Benzie County man was arrested on home invasion charges in Clare County.

Clare County Sheriff's Deputies were sent to the 100 block of Main Street in Farwell around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3.

Deputies said 33-year-old Curtis White of Benzonia forced his way into a home and assaulted the 78-year-old man that lived there.

The victim had been punched multiple times by White while he was trying to get into the home, according to deputies.

Reports say White attempted to assault deputies during the arrest and assaulted two corrections officers at the jail.

White was charged with first degree home invasion, assault/resist/obstruct a police officer, two counts of assault of a prison employee, aggravated assault and fourth offense habitual offender.

White is being held in the Clare County Jail on a $400,000 cash bond.
