Big storm coming
WINTER STORM WATCH beginning at various times early Tuesday morning and lasting thru Wednesday morning for Chippewa, Luce, Emmet, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Charlevoix, Antrim, Otsego, Montmorency, Leelanau, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Crawford, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, and Roscommon Counties. Snow totals for the coming storm will be up to 10 inches...freezing rain could be mixed in...gusts of 30+ mph.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY from midnight tonight to midday Wednesday for Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, and Isabella Counties. Snow totals will be 4 to 7 inches Tuesday and Wednesday. Wind will gust over 30 mph so blowing snow will be a problem.
Today looks like a great day to get outside. Light snow showers will fall, but some of us get some sunshine. It will be mostly cloudy in the Lower Peninsula, but mostly sunny in the Upper Peninsula. Highs will range from 18 in the U.P. to 32 degrees south of US Highway 10. Wind from the east 5-15 mph.
Tonight starts mildly. Before midnight...light wind...maybe a stray snow shower. After midnight...the next snow storm starts to edge into the southern part of the state. Lows 8 to 25 degrees. Wind from the east 10-20 mph.
Tuesday snow spreads all across the map. Totals will be significant. The two day total...Tuesday and Wednesday...will be up to 10 inches. Wind Tuesday will gust over 30 mph from the east. Travel will be slow. Highs 18 to 30 degrees.
Tuesday night...the storm is still with us. The heavier totals will be in the afternoon, but several more inches will fall at night. Wind will come down a little...gusts over 20 mph will be common. Lows 12 to 22 degrees...but it will feel colder with the wind chill.
Wednesday...more snow showers...but mostly in lake effect areas. Wind will be gusting to 25 mph from the northwest. Highs 20-26 degrees.
Thursday...mostly cloudy...scattered snow showers in the Lower. Highs 24-35 degrees.
Friday...snow showers possible anywhere around northern Michigan. Highs mostly in the 20s..
