Cadillac Rotary helping to fund The Wex upgrades

Cadillac Rotary helping to fund civic center upgrades.

WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A popular recreation spot in Wexford County is getting help paying for some much needed upgrades.

The Cadillac Rotary Club chose the Wexford County Civic Center, also known as The Wex, as the charity to help through their annual auction.

Money raised will go toward paying for the complex's new HVAC system in the auditorium.

The new equipment costs more than $100,000.

The Rotary Club hopes to raise a large portion of the funds.

A millage was on the ballot last fall that would help fund the HVAC system and other needed for The Wex but residents voted against it.

“We believe that this facility in our community is really important and being able to maintain it is expensive," Cadillac Rotary Auction Chair Carla Filkins said. "We want to help to make it the best place it can be. We’ll have entertainment, we’ll have a live and a silent auction so we’ll be looking for donations of gift baskets or anything that someone would like to give to us, we’ll figure out how to turn that into some dollars."

The Cadillac Rotary Auction is April 13 at The Wex.
