Changes coming to deadly Benzie County intersection
BENZIE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Changes are now being made to a deadly Benzie County intersection.
The county road commission met Thursday morning and discussed what can be done to prevent fatal crashes at Cedar Run and Reynolds Road.
According to deputies, Clay went through the stop sign, hitting Carpenter’s vehicle.
“The things that we can do immediately we’re going to put up bigger stop signs with more reflective posts and stop ahead signs probably refresh the rumble strips and look at doing some brush trimming and increasing sight distance,” said Matt Skeels with the Benzie County Road Commission. “Long term, we’re going to investigate the possibility for a four way stop.”
Road commissioners say changes will be implemented in the next several days, although it may take more time for the larger stop signs to come in.
The victim’s family members and residents there are actively working to create more awareness of the dangers of the intersection, and overall traffic safety.
The July 27th accident was not the first at this intersection.
