Charlevoix Cherry Republic celebrates grand reopening
CHARLEVOIX COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- Charlevoix's Cherry Republic is up and running again after a December 2016 fire destroyed it.
The store was closed for about 18 months, and celebrated with a grand reopening on Friday.
Store managers say they're thrilled to have the store back open, despite the long road it took to get there.
Managers say they went through quite a few hurdles, from dealing with insurance companies and contractors in order to get the store back on its feet.
"We didn't want to leave Charlevoix or this community. We love Charlevoix. We love being here. We feel that we're an asset to the community," said General Manager Dawn Gildersleeve. "We stuck with it and we got to again make it our own by having that extra time."
