Cheboygan County deputies search for suspects in abduction, sexual assault investigation

Cheboygan County deputies are looking for two men they say abducted and sexually assaulted a woman Sunday afternoon.

CHEBOYGAN COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The Cheboygan County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a woman said she was abducted and sexually assaulted over the weekend.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 13 on Main Street just south of the city limits near Mickey's Mini Mart.

Sheriff Clarmont said the woman said she was taken to the dead end of Duncan Bay Drive on the east side of Cheboygan and sexually assaulted.

Clarmont believes the suspects in the case are familiar with the area and knew where they were taking the victim.

Investigators said the victim described the van as a 1990s style full size van with a possible sliding door, unknown make and dark blue in color.

The woman also said there was shelving in the back of the van but no seats, according to investigators.

The driver of the van is described as white male in his 50s, approximately 5-feet-7-inches, with a slender build and short balding gray hair.

The other suspect is described as a white male in his 40s with a slender-tall build with brown/black shaggy hair covering his ears.

According to Clarmont, the victim was able to escape the van on Duncan Bay Drive and run to a residence for help.

Anyone in the area of Main Street or Duncan Bay Driver during the time and may have seen something, or knows anything about the investigation, is asked to contact the Cheboygan County Sheriff Department at 231-627-3155.
