Cheboygan County resident wins $1 million playing lottery
CHEBOYGAN COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A Cheboygan County resident is a million dollars richer after playing the lottery.
Brenda Jewell, 49, matched the five white balls in the Mega Millions in Tuesday's drawing to win the $1 million prize.
“I checked my numbers and just felt shaky and sick,” said Jewell. “I’ve played for years and dreamed of winning, but you never think it’s going to happen to you.
The Michigan Lottery says the winning ticket was bought at Dave's Place in Cheboygan.
Jewell collected her big winnings on Wednesday at the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing.
Jewell says she is going to take a vacation with her husband, build a new house and then save the remainder of her winnings.
“It still hasn’t really hit me yet that I won. I can’t wait to be debt free and be able to actually breathe and not worry about my finances,” said Jewell.
Mega Millions drawings take place each Tuesday and Friday evening. Each play is only $2.
