Cherryland Humane Society overwhelmed with donations
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The 19 dogs and 13 cats rescued from a Grand Traverse County home earlier this week are currently recovering at Cherryland Humane Society.
In response, community members are stepping up to help those animals by donating to the humane society.
The humane society says it's been overwhelmed by the amount of donations it's received in the form of cat and dog food, cleaning products, towels, blankets, cat litter and dog beds.
Raquel Paulus heard about the rescue and organized a bulk donation with help from her co-workers.
"I'm a huge animal lover," she said. "I can't take all of the animals myself, even though if I could, I would. I just want to help out in some small way, and I knew other people would want to too."
The humane society is still looking for donations. They're requesting mop heads, floor squeegees, hand sanitizer, dish detergent and peanut butter.
Cherryland says that all of the rescued animals are still recovering and unable to be adopted at this time.
