MACKINAC COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A driver crossing the Mackinac Bridge suffered minimal injuries after a chunk of ice from the bridge went through his windshield.

According to a passenger in another car, Nicole Rogers, the car was crossing the bridge heading from the Upper Peninsula to the Lower Peninsula around 10:15 a.m. when they saw the ice falling from the top of the bridge.

Rogers said they moved to the left lane to try and avoid the huge chunks of ice as much as possible but they were falling all around them.

The truck in front of Rogers' car is the one that suffered the damage.

According to Rogers, there was only one man, the driver, in the truck at the time of the incident.

Rogers said the man had little cuts all over him but not severely injured from the ice.

When Rogers and the man driving the truck pulled into the gas station in Mackinaw City, police showed up a short time later.
