Clare County woman charged with embezzling more than $20k
CLARE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A Clare County woman was charged with embezzlement after thousands of dollars was found missing from an area organization.
Melissa Washburn, 46 from Farwell, is accused of stealing more than $20,000 from the Clare Moose Lodge while she worked there between 2005 and 2017.
Clare County Sheriff's Deputies were called to investigate in December 2017 after someone realized money was missing.
On Friday, Washburn was charged with embezzlement over $20,000 under $50,000.
Her bond was set at 10 percent of $20,000 cash or surety.
Washburn posted bond and was released from the Clare County Jail Saturday.
Washburn will be back in court for a hearing on July 26 at 9 a.m.
