An aircrew from the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station in Traverse City is helping with the recovery efforts needed after the historic Midwest flooding.

The aircrew is flying along the Mississippi River near the Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky borders.

The aircrew joined a combined local, state and federal effort for a search-and-rescue, mapping and logistics efforts.

The U.S. Coast Guard has devoted several air and surface assets to the prevention and recovery efforts along the Mississippi River's communities.
