GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- The search continues for a man missing out of Grand Traverse County.

Randy Day, 42, was reported missing by his family members on Wednesday.

With help from the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office, deputies were able to locate his cell phone and backpack near Lee Point in Suttons Bay.

Captain Clark with the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office says the items were washed up on shore.

Further investigation revealed Day had gone kayaking from Bowers Harbor boat launch, which is where deputies found his truck.

This all comes after a kayak was found near Neahtawanta Point on Monday, which investigators have confirmed to be the one Day was using.

On Thursday, deputies and detectives searched on and around Power Island, and also used their drone to search from above.

Captain Clarks says they are bringing in all the resources and equipment they can to try and find Day.

The search continues Friday morning with deputies and detectives from Grand Traverse and Roscommon County, as well as the United States Coast Guard, Michigan State Police, and Peninsula Fire and EMS.

Captain Clark says they'll use a side-scan sonar, underwater robot, and rescue boats, and possibly send in dive crews depending on weather and the information they gather during the search.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to call Central Dispatch at 231-922-4550.
