Crews find body of missing windsurfer on Bear Lake
MANISTEE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Search crews have found the body of 66 year-old Carolyn Skaff who went missing on Bear Lake Friday afternoon.
The search for the missing 66-year-old Frankfort woman re-started at 9 a.m. Saturday and the body was found just 40 minutes later.
Deputies say they found her body along Bear Lake's shoreline just north of Highland Drive and US 31 .
According to the Manistee County Sheriff's Office, the woman and her husband were windsurfing on Bear Lake when she went under. She was not wearing a life jacket.
Deputies, the Department of Natural Resources, firefighters and the Coast Guard all went out to search Friday but gusty winds and waves higher than three feet made it difficult.
We're told the woman was an expert windsurfer, who had surfed all over the world.
The case remains under investigation and and an autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
