Culvert, pavement damage closes portion of M-72 in Crawford County

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A portion of a northern Michigan highway is closed after unexpected damage.

According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, M-72 is closed east of Grayling Tuesday as crews work to repair a culvert and some pavement.

A large void was discovered under the pavement Monday.

MDOT recommends motorists use the detour on I-75 and M-18.

Crews hope to have the repairs done by the end of the day.
