DNR looking for volunteers during U.P. State Fair
ESCANABA, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The DNR is looking for volunteers to help with children's events during the U.P. State Fair.
The DNR is hosting events at the "Pocket Park" during the fair from August 13-19 in Escanaba.
The 1-acre pocket park inside the fairgrounds will have activities including fishing, pellet gun shooting, archery and other opportunities.
Volunteers are needed to help kids who come to the pocket park enjoy the activities provided.
“Most folks who volunteer at the Pocket Park find it to be a very rewarding experience, with many returning to offer their help again this year,” said Kristi Dahlstrom, one of the DNR volunteer organizers. “The park attracts big crowds, which means we have a lot of available shifts for volunteers to fill.”
To volunteer you must be 16-years or older and pass a background check.
Available shifts include:
4:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. Monday, August 13
11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and 3-7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday
11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and 3:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday
11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 19
Volunteers will be given a meal, a T-shirt and a small gift.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Kristi Dahlstrom at (906)226-1331 or firstname.lastname@example.org or Jo Ann Alexander at (906)789-8200 or email@example.com.
