CLARE COUNTY, Mi. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A 55-year-old man has passed away after state police say he had a medical emergency while driving in Clare County.

This single-vehicle crash happened Thursday around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Eight Point Lake Road and Lake Station Avenue in Lake.

According to Michigan State Police, James Ruth was heading southbound on Lake Station Ave when he suffered a medical emergency. The vehicle then left the road at a low rate of speed.

State police say Ruth was pronounced dead at the scene after first responders tried to resuscitate him.
