Enbridge restarts Line 5
EMMET COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Enbridge restarted Line 5 Monday at 3:15 p. m. according to company spokesman Ryan Duffy.
Duffy said the company continues to monitor the weather conditions in the Straits and provide updates to the State, Coast Guard and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
Duffy went on to say that, "Enbridge is committed to protecting the waters of the Great Lakes while ensuring families, manufacturers and other businesses safely receive the energy transported through Line 5."
Line 5, the utility line that runs under the Straits of Mackinac, was temporarily shut down Sunday because of a power outage at the Superior, Wisconsin terminal.
Senator Debbie Stabenow took to Twitter shortly after the decision to reopen saying Line 5 should have stayed closed until all the inspections were complete.
