Evart man arrested after 53-mile-long police chase
ROSCOMMON COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) – Roscommon police arrested a man after a high-speed chase covering over 50 miles, according to a press release from undersheriff Ben Lowe.
Officers received a report of a suspicious woman at a vacant residence in Markey Township.
Prior to deputies arriving, the caller told dispatch the suspicious woman had been picked up in a vehicle by a male suspect and provided a description of the suspects and the vehicle.
A short time later, deputies located a vehicle matching the description on M-55 in Denton Township and stopped the vehicle for motor vehicle violations.
The vehicle pulled into a parking lot and stopped.
As deputies approached, the vehicle sped away and got back onto M-55. Deputies then pursued west on M-55.
The pursuit continued into Missaukee County at speeds over 100 mph along M-55, later turning south on 8 Mile Road.
The fleeing vehicle later drove onto M-66 in Osceola County and through Marion.
During the chase, the vehicle slowed down and the female passenger then jumped out, before continuing to flee from pursuing officers.
The chase ended several miles later when the driver ran from the moving vehicle.
After a brief foot pursuit, the driver was apprehended.
The length of the pursuit was approximately 53 miles and covered 3 counties.
The driver was identified as Jesse Mobley, 37, from Evart.
Mobley had several outstanding warrants out of Big Rapids, Reed City and Osceola County.
Mobley’s drivers license was also revoked.
Mobley was arraigned in the 82nd District Court in Roscommon County, on Tuesday.
Mobley was charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, Driving While License Revoked 2nd Offense, No Insurance and Unlawful Use of a Registration Plate.
