Grand Traverse Academy students attempt to set world record

Students at Grand Traverse Academy helped in the nationwide effort of the "World's Largest Sport Stacking Event."

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Some northern Michigan students attempted to set a Guinness World Record today.

Grand Traverse Academy students stacked cups in their gym today to take part in the "World's Largest Sport Stacking Event" as a part of Guinness' World Record Day

The worldwide goal for today's event was for more than 625,000 stackers to participate for more than 30 minutes a piece.

If achieved, the goal would top the previous record, set in 2016, by three thousand.

Staff at the Academy say that students in Gaylord were helping set the record today as well.
