GT County Commissioners approve settlement for 2017 inmate suicide

Alan Halloway

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Grand Traverse County may be paying a settlement in connection to a 2017 suicide at the jail.

During Wednesday's meeting, commissioners approved releasing the money for the settlement.

Alan Halloway hung himself in the county jail in July 2017.

Halloway was in the jail after being arrested and charged with attempted murder after investigators said he shot a man at Bay Hill Apartments in July 2017.

Commissioners couldn't release an exact amount for the potential settlement.

The settlement still needs to be signed by the Halloway family and approved by the Probate Court.
