BENZIE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU)-- Happy Pi Day! Celebrate 3.14 on 3/14!
While the day might suggest a celebration of the mathematical constant, 7&4 News caught up with The Cherry Hut to celebrate pi with an 'e'.
Don't worry though, there is some math involved - try to figure out these Cherry Hut equations:
50+47 = the number of years The Cherry Hut has been making and selling cherry pies.
1926-4 = the year The Cherry Hut opened its first roadside stand.
6 X 2 = number of cherry pies plated and filled at one time.
80 - 70 X 6 = the number of pies The Cherry Hut can fit in their ovens at one time.
45 + 15 = number of minutes it takes to bake the pies.
314-14 = average number of pies made per day at The Cherry Hut during the busy season.
As we know, pi, is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. If you want to put your math skills to a practical and yummy use, consider using pi to measure the area of a pie!
The Cherry Hut store is located in Benzonia and it's restaurant is located in Beulah. The seasonal restaurant will open Saturday, May 11 for Mother's Day to kick-off its busy summer season.
While the restaurant is seasonal, The Cherry Hut store is open and ready to serve full cherry pies to those who might be looking for a celebratory treat today.
