Heavy snow in the southern Lower Peninsula
A few scattered light lake effect snow showers around northern Michigan thru Friday. Lows Friday AM...from 1 below zero to 15 above. Highs Friday...15 to 25 degrees. Light wind 5-15 mph. We in northern Michigan will have a cold winter's night and day...Thursday night and Friday...but no big issues with the weather. However, it's a different story for the southern third of the Lower Peninsula.
To the south of our part of the state...heavy snow is forecast thru Friday. A long list of large metro areas are under either a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY...which means up to 7 inches of snow...or a WINTER STORM WARNING...which means up to 10 inches of snow. Be aware that traveling will be difficult in these counties the southern Lower Peninsula and in many counties in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. More snow will fall Saturday AM and on Sunday in very close to the same areas.
Back here in our part of the state...Saturday will be sunny in the U.P...and partly sunny in the northern Lower. Highs 15 to 25 degrees.
Sunday will be partly sunny with some passing snow showers...and slightly warmer. Highs 20 to 28 degrees.
