High winds in Leelanau County contribute to two crashes
Strong winds in Leelanau County were a factor in two crashes Thursday night.
According to the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office, the first crash happened just before 7 p.m. on Coleman Road north of Bloswick Road. Deputies say a 2012 Hyundai driven by a 35-year-old Interlochen woman was on Coleman Road when a tree blew down right in front of her. The woman's vehicle hit the tree causing damage to her vehicle.
Just about 10 minutes later, deputies responded to a crash on M-72 west of Benzoina Trail where another vehicle hit a large fallen tree. Deputies tell us a 71-year-old woman was driving her 2007 Honda west on M-72 when she hit the tree in the road.
Deputies say no one was injured in these crashes but the vehicles were extensively damaged.
