WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Hundreds of pounds of candy was donated by Wexford County kids to troops overseas.

Munson Medical Center Cadillac and the Northern Michigan Diabetes Initiative collected children's extra Halloween candy to teach healthy eating habits and support soldiers.

This year, 297 pounds of candy was collected and each child who donated had their name put in a drawing for a brand new bike from McLain Cycle and Fitness.

Paxton Sisson was the young boy who won the certificate for a new bike.

The collected candy was donated to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 94 and will be packaged up and sent to troops overseas and local veterans.
