KALKASKA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A teacher at Kalkaska Middle School has been charged with assault and battery following an alleged incident between her and a student on March 8.
According to an incident report from the Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office, a warrant was requested for Collette Sabins after a deputy was asked to come to the school by the principal the day after the alleged assault.
In the incident report, the deputy said they were shown surveillance footage from the school which appeared to show Sabins making a fist toward the student then grabbing them by the front of their collar and pulling them toward the office.
Sabins was helping the student with schoolwork before the alleged assault, according to the incident report.
Sabins is on paid administrative leave.
