Live eagle cam at Platte River State Fish Hatchery shows nesting pair
Benzie, Mi (WPBN/WGTU) — A live eagle cam has been set up to give viewers the rare chance to watch a nesting pair in real time.
A partnership between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Carbon Media Group gives the view of the bald eagles at the Platte River State Fish Hatchery near the Benzie County town of Beulah.

The DNR says the Eagle Cam live streams for 24/7. The site also includes tapped clips of the eagles engaging in various activities, including eating a rabbit, building an clearing their nest and being visited by great horned owls.
The DNR says the pair's nest is 100 feet above the ground, located on the Platte river. An egg was laid over the weekend and the pair will hopefully hatch and rear their eaglets throughout the summer of 2016.
"This pair of eagles have been regular visitors to this nest for the past three years," said Ed Eisch, DNR fish production manager. "We're thrilled to partner with Carbon Media Group to give people a window into the world of these majestic creatures in their native habitat."
The DNR says once an endangered species, the bald eagle has been the U.S. national emblem since 1782.

The DNR would like to note that the eagle cam is streamed most easily via Google Chrome. A download speed of at least 5 mpbs is recommended for optimum viewing.
